How to Prepare Your Logo File for Print

Getting your logo printed on fabric for t-shirts, tote bags, or uniforms?   Fabric has its own rules!   Unlike paper, ink can bleed and textures can affect fine details.   Follow these key steps to ensure your logo looks sharp and vibrant on any material.

Use a Vector File (Absolutely Essential!)

PDF: Universally accepted and versatile.
EPS or AI: The preferred choice for professional designers.

These are the industry standards.   Vector files are resolution-independent, allowing printers to scale your logo perfectly for any size garment without jagged edges.

Simplify Fine Details & Use Strokes Wisely

Extremely thin lines, tiny text, and subtle gradients may not reproduce well.   Ink can spread slightly on fabric.
Bold is better: Ensure all lines and text are thick enough to withstand potential bleeding.
Simplify: Consider simplifying intricate details for a clearer, more impactful print.

Set the Correct Color Mode for the Method

The best color mode depends on the printing technique:
For Screen Printing (Spot Colors): Use Pantone (PMS) colors.   This creates crisp, separate layers for each color and ensures perfect color matching.

For Digital or DTG Printing: Use CMYK.   This is better for complex, multi-colored, or photorealistic designs, though colors may appear slightly less vibrant than on paper.

Provide a High-Resolution PNG Mockup

In addition to your vector file, provide a high-resolution (300 DPI) PNG file on a transparent background.   This helps your printer visualize the final product and create an accurate mockup for you to approve.
